Abstract

The trend in contemporary art is freely expressed as complex and various aspects irrespective of a particular trend, form and idea due to the diversification of molding concept and groping for various ways through pluralism. Freeing itself from restraint of dividing the established genre, contemporary art is showing the tendency of standing above genre with employing a mixed medium, new interpretation on it and cognition and appearance of image on new space. And it is progressing by uniting purity of an act into the environment with variability through high-tech mediums, suggesting the one side of immensity through the demonstration and extension of object. In light of this trend, as the direct influence and a new material or method resulted from various experiments on object, installation work, which became the whole area of the art as one form of expression in the space attempting the dissemination of image and the reciprocal extension, is greatly emphasized. Through this change, the extension of the area of the art by technology extended exhibits and an exhibit space into a common range, making a scientific medium proceed to a next level. The progress of a medium has a great effect on a human life, creating a new digital culture. It makes feasible humans' imagination. Futhermore, it becomes the important basis for generating another new genre of the art. Consequently, this thesis has focused on studying the technology, which is actively introduced in contemporary art. And it is going to study the correlation and prospect between installation art and the progress of technology in contemporary art in regard to a scientific media.
