김시습의 작가의식 연구 : 금오신화를 중심으로

Abstract

Kim Si-seup, who was born in beginning of Josun Dynasty, is a great literary person, miserable politician and philosopher who was anxious about his country. He was an elite whose future was promising because of his inborn talent. However, he passed away without making his talent shown properly due to confusing history. The thing he relied on to communicate with the world was literature itself. Kim Si-seup intended to represent his suffering from his generation and his life surrounded by confusion and contradiction through his literary works. This study is to speculate his peculiar mind on writing generated from his painful life. First of all, this study examines his life, social and literary background as backgrounds that helped to form his literary mind. Miserable family background, painful situation of that generation, literature of outsider which could not join official servants or retired gentlemen worked as main factors which helped form his literary mind. This study describes the contents to realize literary mind because of such background factors in aspects of departed souls, literature and thoughts. Departed souls are a main factor in Kim Si-seup's literature. The departed souls are divided into official and private, and through their appearances, they accused injustice and grief of reality. In literature, he thought his work a mean to escape from conventional view of literature, agree virtuality and exciting feeling and express a utopian world. In thoughts, he intended to express his subjective sense of value through combination of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. Based on this general literary mind, this study speculates Gumoshinhwa which is very valuable in literary history. And it studies his literary mind specifically and the results are presented as follows: 1) ' Self-reflecting mind ' is Kim Si-seup himself in Gumoshinhwa. We can find his life and desires in characters and languages of heroes in Gumoshinhwa. It can be said that all the heroes in this work are his other self. A lonely Confucian who could not make the best use of his ability is reproduced through his works. 2) ' Reality Criticism ' is roughly categorized into integrity, love to the people, and historical mind. Integrity is found in a woman in < Manboksajeopoki>, Choi Rang in < Leesaenggyujangjeon >, and Kissinyeo in < Chiyububyokjungki >. Such integrity criticized the ruling party at that time who flattered the King Sejo's government and gave up integrity and true feeling. The love to the public is specifically exposed through < Namyeombujooji >. It criticizes lost reality of the true attitude as a king bexplaining qualification of the king in various angles. Historical mind is revealed through < Chiyububyokjungki >. It criticizes distorted and contradictory consciousness on history by Kijajoseon based on traditional mind on history. 3) ' Reality Transcendence ' is found at utopian world and the tragic and unreal ending. < Namyeombujooji > describes organized world governed by a honest king through Yeombujoo, and < Yongkungbuyeonrok > describes literary kingdom in which he can exercise his literary talent at its fullest and his desires are satisfied. The tragic and unreal ending of the works reflect his reality transcendence ' actively.
