Abstract
The difficulty in a poetry will be able to define that it is difficult to read the text and interpret the meaning of it. Namely, it means the situation that readers can not understand the meaning and a part or whole intention of the poet.
In Kim Su-yeong's poetry, a poet and his language operate with a decisive factor of "difficulty" which disrupt meaningful understand. The basic cause is from "new pursuit" of Kim Su-yeong. Here is the new pursuit that he does not follow in steps the existing contents and a type, throws away the regular emotion and the typical form and creates the method of the expression which is not attempt till now. It makes Kim Su -yeong's poetry difficult. Kim Su-yeong pursuits that the language loses a well-balanced meaning, changes entirely different or surpasses the meaning which is a meaninglessness.
The language and meaning in Kim Su-yeong' text collide with each other and become a different meaning. It is because that the meaning of the text contradicts the structure of reader's recognition. The difficulty occurs from the process that a conceptional meanings leave from the original meaning territory when they are showed in Kim Su-yeong' text. The new meaning in his poetry intends to a kind of meaninglessness. A language dilutes the meaning of other language and leads to the space of meaninglessness. It does not mean 'complete absence of the meaning' but 'the beyond meaning'
In trun, Kim Su-yeong refuses traditional segmental form and takes a new rhythm. It does not only mean the structure itself but also segment the poetic diction which must be connected or connect it which must be segmented. This makes the meaning of the text difficult. And a structure modification appears in a chain of contiguity in his text. Kim Su-yeong's form of poetry that the replacement of meaning is repeated dialectically without a break is an underlying cause of difficulty and embodies a new aspect.
Self-consciousness which attract reader's attention easily in his poem is related to the difficulty closely. It recognizes a pain of oneself and tell the pain inside. It is also difficult to understand for readers.
On the other hand, Kim Su-yeong recognized a poetry with art of unconsciousness and many readers can not understand the text well because of the statements depend on unconsciousness. Consciousness and unconsciousness interact constantly in his poem. It makes the form of meaning more difficult. Difficulty increases in a place of the intersection and interrupt mutual understanding between the text and readers.
It is an indispensible condition to examine the cause of difficulty closely when we discuss the degree of it. It is because that we can not recognize the difficulty before we enter a sphere of the base of it. The cause and degree of difficulty in this study can not be examined by oneself, coexist with giving meaning each other.
Namely, Kim Su-yeong's difficulty is compositive that much and we can understand his poetry well when we observe all over the degree of difficulty. The process of true understand can be tried out and reached by 'intellectual endure'
