- Abstract
- You can classify speakers' recognition towards their circumstances in Koryeokayo roughly into two viewpoints. One viewpoint is speakers' acceptance of objects and negative recognition of their existence in the works of Koryeokayo. Among the works of Koryeokayo, female speakers in these works, Seokyeongbyulkok, Kasiri and Dongdong are not self-reliant and tend to think that they are subject to somebody else. Affirming definitely that there is Im, the object of their love, the female speakers allow somebody else to shape themselves and show us their existence negatively. But their stances of waiting for Im are highlighted positively. Although their waiting attitudes in each work are slightly different, those are caused mostly by seeking love from Im and show us common emotion consistently.
Among works of Koreyokayo, Manjeonchunbyulsa and Isangkok are the works which show us speakers' negative recognition of objects. The world which the speakers experience in these works, especially speakers' recognition towards their relationship with the world shows in negative aspects. You can say that this characteristic is caused basically by the absence of Im.
On the other hand, another viewpoint is sexual conception and speakers' recognition of life in the works of Koryeokayo. Understanding to sex and life is easily revealed through real experiences in their life. You can even say that sexual conception and expression of sexual action are closely related to their life.
Expression of the speaker's sexual desire in the work, Ssanghwajeom is exceptional even when we consider it in terms of present-day sexual conception. Considering that the speaker's recognition of sex shows openly, you can see what women's viewpoints towards love were like and how they expressed their sexual desire at that time.
And you can see the situation of how badly the last period of the Koryeo dynasty was riddled with corruption through the work, Cheongsanbyulkok. You can say the speaker's life in this work, who lives in Cheongsan, is exactly the same as the life of common people who could not help live in despair at that time. The speaker's recognition in this work, Cheongsanbyulkok shows very openly and involves kind of indetermination. Although the speaker admits that he can't help leave for another world which is different from the one he gets used to, he also show us the attachment to his daily life.
