정지용 시에 나타난 전통성 연구

Abstract

The relative comprehensive study of Ji-yoeung and his poems have been made until now. But I believe more diversified study should precede in order to clarify true character of Ji-yoeung's poems and examine the true values closely. Thus, in this thesis, sublating the fact that the study of Ji-yoeung's poems has been too much dependent on western theories, I tried to make a study suitable to our literary circumstances. In this point of view, I reilluminated poetic tendency and character of Ji-Yoeung and analyzed the tradition images found in his poems. The results of summarized study are as follows. The first, His poetry has got a imaginative peculiarity which are eminent sense, the point of taking the space into his poem and, physical poetry excluded feeling and idea. These characteristic has a meaning to expanse an intellectual extent of Korea Modern Poetry. The second, in the poems of "Homesickness"including children's verse and poems of ballad style, Ji-Yoeung expresses the sense of losing home, which is, that is the substitution of the one of losing native country. The third, for the inclination for the oriental spirit, I can see the poetics of Ji-yoeung is based on the Oriental classics including the Analects of Confucius and so on and his poetic world is in touch with Chinese poems of Dubo and Samagwang and "Gasa" literature of Jung-chul. The fourth, The formal characteristic of his poetry is to point to the form of modern prose poem using with the traditional elements which are formal rhythm of equivalence of two feet, sonnet of two line and one stanza, burden etc. The fifth analyzing the poetic language of Ji-yoeung, I can find the traditional images to have been continuously inherited in Korean literature including the images of native women, of contemplative old men, of birds, and flowers, of heavenly bodies(sun, moon, star), of scenery(sky, mountain, river), and of elements(rain, wind, cloud). Therefore the historical position of Ji-yoeung's poems is found in his poetic character, bringing new purse and breath in the modern poetry of Korea, which does not uncritically accept Modernism but is based on the tradition of Korean literature. Surely this is also the important source to determine the position of Ji-yoeung in the history of Korean modern poetry.
