도시공간 미술장식품 분석 및 현황에 관한 연구 - 광주광역시 환경조각을 중심으로

Abstract

Due to the development of industry in modern society, our life became more productive and also more convenient. But at the same time, it brought about an unexpected problems such as traffic, housing and environmental pollution. To, solve these problems, we must thought about not only physical expansion of the city but efficient role, environment, rehabilitation and public space of the city. By these necessities, a number of public arts have been installed recently. What I am trying to say is that it must be changed to effectively demonstrate its right function for the atmosphere of the place. Relation between public art and the building is not subordinate anymore but surroundings of cities are all became "public art" itself. To improve our living environment, it will be required artist's effort with government support. Then it will be changed to be more beautiful and pleasant. In my thesis, I researched on Gwang-ju city objectively to show the present condition of public art and also posed questions to ordinary citizens who live in the city at the moment. It was progressed from 1st to 16th May, 2005. The results are following : It seems true to say that Public art in the city are contributing to citizens as providing new circumstances in some aspects but many of them indicated incongruent installation in the surroundings. To activate public art, the most important things in order are investment, suitable space, elevations of art works in terms of quality and number, extensive artists group and changes of citizen's way of thinking. There are some opinions in selecting artist that it must be considered not only prominent artists but also young and spirited artists. And Environmental sculptures and all kind of public art must be installed in a whole scheme of urban space to give and maximize aesthetic pleasure and satisfaction. It is requested that architectures, sculptors and urban designers should be participated actively in designing from the first step and should work aggressively with originality and subjectivity but without imitation. Abundant circumstances in emotional and cultural aspects will be supplied only by efforts of artists, government and citizens with one accord. Then, it will be a space of relaxation to communicate between art works and public and tradition and contemporary.
