대학생 학사경고자의 학업부진 유형 분류: 지방 사립 A 대학을 중심으로

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 대학생 학사경고자의 학업부진 요인을 탐색하고 유형으로 분류하는데 있다. 본 연구는 지방 사립 A 대학을 중심으로 이루어졌으며 부진학생에 대한 이해와 설문지 개발을 위해 A대학 재학생 중 1회 이상 학사경고를 받은 학생 18명을 대상으로 사전 인터뷰를 진행하였다. 사전 인터뷰를 통해 도출된 학업부진 요인과 선행연구에서 도출된 요인을 토대로 설문지를 구성하였고, 전문가 검토, Pilot 테스트를 통한 타당화 과정을 거쳐 총 82문항의 최종 설문지를 개발하였다. 총 132명이 설문에 참여하였고, 연구 자료 분석을 위해 탐색적 요인분석과 군집분석을 실시하였다. 주요 연구결과로는 첫째, 학업부진에 영향을 미치는 9개 요인이 도출되었다. 둘째, 학업부진에 영향을 많이 미치는 요인은 ‘학사제도 및 학습지원 안내’, ‘학습역량’, ‘교수와의 관계’, ‘수업이해’, ‘생활습관’, ‘학과/전공만족도’ 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 군집분석을 실시한 결과 A대학 학사경고자의 유형이 총 4개의 군집으로 분류되었다. 이 군집들은 ‘교수와의 관계 및 전공 불만족형’, ‘학사제도 및 학습지원 미인지형’, ‘전공 기초지식 부족형’, ‘생활습관조절 미흡형’으로 명명되었다. 군집 유형별 특성을 살펴보고 사례분석과 차이분석을 하였다.

Classification of Underachievement of College Students on Academic Probation : Based on Local Private University A

The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors of underachievement of University students’ academic probation and classify them into categories. This study was based on Local Private University A, In order to understand underachievers and construct a questionnaire, the final 18 students who underwent academic probation at least once in A university were interviewed. Questionnaires were constructed on the basis of the factors of underachievement derived from interviews and factors derived from previous studies. The final questionnaires of the total 82 items were developed as a measurement tool after validation through expert review and pilot testing. A total of 132 students participated in the survey. Exploratory factor analysis and cluster analysis were conducted to analyze the data. The results of the research are as follows: First, there were 9 factors that influence underachievement. Second, the most influential factors to underachievement were ‘Academic system and study support guide’, ‘learning ability’, ‘relationship with professor’, ‘classunderstanding’, ‘life style’, ‘department/major satisfaction’. And last, cluster analysis was conducted and it was classified into four clusters. These clusters were ‘dissatisfaction with major and relationship with professor’, ‘perception regarding service of the academic system and study support', ‘major lack of basic knowledge’ and ‘insufficient regulation of life style’. This study was investigated through characteristics of cluster type and it was done using case analysis and difference analysis.
