- In April 2011, ICRP issued a statement on tissue reactions in which it recommended, for occupational exposure, a dose limit for equivalent dose to the lens of the eye of 20 mSv/year, averaged over defined periods of 5 years, with no annual dose in a single year exceeding 50 mSv. Thus, the need for lens dose assessment and management of nuclear medicine workers is increasing. This study measured the lens exposure dose of the nuclear medicine radiation workers using ED3 Active Extremity Dosimeter for six months from February 2017 to July 2017. It was measured for 99mTc-Bone scan and 18F-FDG PET. because they are most frequently exam in nuclear medicine. As a result of measurement, The annual lens dose in 99mTc-Bone scan is 4.29 ± 1.73 mSv/day, based on 8.37 ± 2.82 patients/day. The annual lens dose in 18F-FDG PET is 2.56 ± 0.98 mSv/day, based on 5.47 ± 1.48 patients/day. This does not exceed the lens equivalent dose limit. However, it is necessary to continuously manage the lens dose as it may result in workers exposed to high doses depending on the working environment. Also, as a result of the shielding performance test, L-block is the most outstanding among L-block, syringe shield, and lead glass. Based on this study, It is expected that it will build baseline of the evaluation and management system of the lens dose in each medical institution.
