Abstract
Average dimension of Korean maxillary incisors were reproduced in 3 - dimensions, and compared the dimensions and amount of tooth reduction with three types of prefabricated crowns (celluloid strip crown, resin veneered stainless steel crown, and zirconia crown) on four (mesio-distal width of crown, crown height, crown shape ratio, and radius of curvature) assessment factors.
In the case of the primary central incisor, the rein veneered stainless steel crown showed the most similar shape at # 2 size, the zirconia crown at # 1 size, and the celluloid strip crown at # 2 size, In the case of primary lateral incisor, the rein veneered stainless steel crown showed most similar shape at # 3 size, zirconia crown at # 2 size, and the celluloid strip crown at # 3 size. Among these, the # 2 size of the zirconia crown was the most similar to the natural teeth.
The amount of tooth reduction on incisal edge of crown was 1.239 mm in the zirconia crown, which was the largest in 3 types of prefabricated crowns. In the proximal surface, the zirconia crown and the celluloid strip crown showed a similar amount of tooth reduction, but larger than the resin veneered stainless steel crown. The amount of tooth reduction of the zirconia crown was 0.797 mm in primary central incisor and 0.838 mm in the primary lateral incisor, which were largest among prefabricated crowns. However, in lingual surface the amount of tooth reduction was lower than in the labial surface, and the difference of tooth reduction amount was not significant among the three prefabricated crown.
The mesio - distal width of the crown was the most important criterion for choosing the size of the prefabricated crown closing to actual size of natural crown among 4 assessment factors (the core width of the crown, the crown height, the crown ratio, and the radius of curvature of the face).
