Abstract
Studies on compact, light antenna with high performance have been recently investigated due to rapid developments of wireless communication technology. A microstrip antenna with bandwidth of several GHz has provided secure ultra high-speed wireless transmission rate at low cost and low power. Various patterns of a microchip antenna have been designed and fabricated to increase the efficiency of the transmissions through an existing lithography process. However, it is difficult to fabricate complicated antenna patterns using the method and troublesome to manufacture various masks with respect to various antenna patterns. In order to solve these problems, various different process methods other than the lithography process have been researched and developed to reduce the process steps.
In this work, we fabricate a microstrip antenna using a femtosecond laser together with a tape processing technique. We use a tape and paste as a substitute instead of PR and mask used in existing lithography process. It is confirmed that the tape process method can simplify manufacturing processes compared to the lithography method. We design an antenna through the antenna design program and confirm that a microchip antenna can be manufactured using a femtosecond laser tape processing technology. The fabrication characteristics of the antenna fabricated between the lithography and the tape process together with a femtosecond laser are compared and the tape process method is a simple and precise method to make a microchip antenna with high performance.
