Analyzing the characteristics of the Nature of Science (NOS) in the exhibits of the Science Museum and Suggesting Its Development Direction

The importance of the nature of science is becoming increasingly important to foster scientific literacy, the goal of scientific education in the world. In this study, identifying the characteristics of nature of science at the science museum and seeks to develop and apply nature of science education programs based on the science museum exhibits. Although the definition of science is varied, in this study, the common denominator of nature of science is through the ASTE and researchers of nature of science. 1) Science knowledge has base in empirical evidence. 2) Science knowledge is tentative. 3) The theory of scientific knowledge is an analogy to natural phenomena and is a mechanism for relationship between natural phenomena. 4) The law of scientific knowledge describes the relationship between observed or detected phenomena. 5) The scientific knowledge is created by the creative imagination of a person. 6) Science is based on observation and inference. 7) Science is subjective. 8) Science is influenced by the human activity and the experience of experienced cultures. 9) Science is influenced by technology and society, and through social consensus. 10) Science consists of various scientific methods.
The study reflected the nature of the science of science museum reflected and reflected the nature of science education program reflected and applied to the effectiveness of the science. First, after developing scientific instruments for science at the science museum, Using the analysis tools developed by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology to analyze the nature of the science museum, the science museum analyzed the nature of science and reflected what kind of science was reflected in the local science community. Also, scientific nature of science is to explore the way to scientifically reflect the nature of science and develop the education program to the science museum and the effectiveness of the effects will be sought through educational program participants and experts in science and education.
The analysis of the nature of science museum exhibits is as follows. First, the nature of science at the S natural history museum shows a total of 76. the explicit of nature of science was 25%. The component was found to have been observed with observation and Inference (INF), and the empirical (EMP) was the 21st most revealing of 21 cases. A total of seven scientific concepts were analyzed, scientific methods (MET), science technology and society. (STS), social and culture (SSC), subjective (SUB). Second, the nature of science at the M natural history museum shows a total of 49. the explicit of nature of science was only 2%. The component was found to have been observed with observation and Inference (INF), and scientific methods (MET) was the most revealing of 29 and 8 cases. Third, the nature of science at the National G Science Museum shows a total of 42. the explicit of nature of science was 14%. The component was found to have been observed with Science is influenced by technology and society (STS) was the most revealing of 16 cases. Fourth, the nature of science at the National J Science Museum shows a total of 21. the explicit of nature of science was 14%. The component was found to have been observed with Science is influenced by technology and society (STS) was the most revealing of 15 cases.
This study was developed and applied Nature of science education program basis science museum exhibit, for supplement of nature of science that restrictively shows in science museum exhibit.
The conclusions derived from this study are as follows. First, depending on the nature of science, various kinds of science should reflect the nature of various kinds of science. Second, it is necessary to reflect the nature of the scientific nature of science museum exhibits. To enhance the nature of science at the science museum, one should actively utilize the educational program that utilizes the science museum exhibits.
