Abstract
This study introduces a welding technique of new ways in laser which has higher density in heat source than other lasers may exceed the limit of classic straight laser-beam welding after the superior fiber laser development.
Because of the quality, single-mode fiber laser beam was applied rather than other ways, it is equipped with a scan head which rotates to re-melt a portion of the weld part.
This is called as wobbling and this study shows the optimum process conditions and the properties of the steel material of the car by applying wobbling. The quality of weld zone and productivity could be increased by applying wobbling which has advantages in the properties of weld penetration and speed to the laser welding, deterioration occurred by the deviation of combination conditions - unevenness of gap, changed location of the center of weld zone - could be overcome and get better weld strength.
Recently, the existing processed of laser pulse welding and laser straight seam welding are substituted to laser wobbling. it is not only applied to the laser welding but also laser cutting, scribing and other fields.
In this study, lever, shaft and pin that used as parts of automobile turbo charger will be linear seam butt welded by multi-mode fiber laser. Also wobbling seam butt weld by using single-mode fiber laser was in progress. After that, weldability of weld zone has been tested by analysis of mechanical property and metallurgical characteristics.
