A study on the development of Facilitative Coaching Language Scale for Taekwondo master and related variables

This study is to develop and verify facilitative Coaching language scale for Taekwondo master and to confirm the usefulness of the scale by demonstrating relations to related variables. To achieve these purposes, construct components of facilitative coaching language were collected through an open questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis for verifying the scale. To investigate the relations among facilitative coaching language, demographic characteristics, and role satisfaction, t-test, ANOVA, multiple regression analysis were conducted. The results of the study were as follows. First, the construct components of Facilitative Coaching Language Scale for Taekwondo master were 6 factors: recognizing emotion, loading responsibility, nourishing self-respect, encouraging, setting rules, and self-control. There was significant corelation among the sub-scales of Facilitative Coaching Language Scale for Taekwondo master. Also there was significant corelation between Facilitative Coaching Language Scale for Taekwondo master and Coaching Behavior Scale, a reference scale. These results confirmed construct and criterion validation of Facilitative Coaching Language Scale for Taekwondo master. Second, there was no significant gender difference in the level of facilitative coaching language. The use of nourishing self-respect, encouraging, and setting rules would increase as the age of Taekwondo master increased. The use of facilitative coaching language would increase as the training experience, the teaching career, and the certified degree of Taekwondo master increased. Also the level of facilitative coaching language was the highest in the group of Taekwondo masters who had a post-graduate degree. Director used facilitative coaching language more than instructor. Third, the more Taekwondo master used facilitative coaching language such as nourishing self-respect or recognizing emotion, the higher was the level of role satisfaction as a master.
