- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediation effects of worry on the relation between socially prescribed perfectionism and academic procrastination. Participants were 380 university students who were asked to complete a set of questionnaires. To examine the mediation effects, data were analyzed by multiple regressions. The results were as follows; first, the results of the correlation analyses showed that there were significant positive correlations among socially prescribed perfectionism, worry and academic procrastination. Second, the results of multiple regression analysis showed that there were fully mediating effects of worry and its sub-dimensions on the relationships between socially prescribed perfectionism and academic procrastination. The findings of this research concluded socially prescribed perfectionism had an indirect effect on procrastination through worry. Based on the results, consultation strategies focused on worry on the relationship between socially prescribed perfectionism and academic procrastination were suggested. Implications and limitation of this study were discussed along with the suggestions for future research.
