한국 자동차산업의 對캐나다 수출경쟁력측정과 수출확대 전략 연구

Abstract

Korea and Canada established diplomatic relations In 1963 and held FTA(Free Trade Agreement) consultation in 2005. Canada`s manufacturing production bases are fewer than Korea. On the other hand, the sharing of the mining industry and service industry are relatively high. The effectuation of Korea and Canada FTA will be expected a significant opportunity to Korea is able to hold a complementary industrial structure. Besides, Korea and Canada can greatly expand the trade and investment in natural resources and state-of-the-art technology. And Korea has an opportunity to secure a bridgehead in the NAFTA(North American Free Trade Agreement)market, which accounts for 36% of global GDP and a huge FTAA(Free Trade Area of America)market. The paper investigated the Korea-Canada FTA Prospects. As a result, Korea has been exported car mainly in Canada. Therefore, It measured and analyzed export competitive advantages of Korea, USA, Japan and Germany`s automotive Industry in Canada between 2005 and 2013. In doing so, the calculation of the Balassa Index of Revealed Comparative Advantage(RCA) and the Balassa Index of Trade Specialization(TSI) was used. It indicates that Export Competitiveness of Korea Automotive Industry is based on Export and Import rate. It describes occurred difficulty when Korea and Canada FTA is effectuated and the alternative solution. This study found that Korea has increased the annual competitiveness rate in Canada from 2005 to 2013 with a positive state. The paper complements the previous literature at least in the following directions. First, previous studies not explained side of the competitiveness of Korea automotive industry in Canada specifically. Second, this study presents a more detailed study about automotive industry than the traditional automotive study, this can be more strategic analysis. It can be seen even the specific preferences in Canada through the results.
