Abstract

A Study on the Trade Effects of Foreign Direct Investment between Korea and APEC Countries

This thesis focuses on Korea trade effect of foreign direct investment. Specifically, Korea joined APEC in1989, with other APEC member countries as the research object, analyze the Korean trade effect of foreign direct investment research, thus it is concluded that the Korean foreign direct investment to the Korea the impact of international trade. On this basis, according to Korea in other APEC members tates between foreign direct investment more effective trade policies are put forward. In 2013, the Korean foreign direct investment growth rate of 14%, rose by $33 billion from a year ago, rank the 13th largest in the world. The United States ranks the first place with $328.8 billion, Japan ranks the second with $122.5 billion, Chinaranks the third with $84.2 billion. In developed countries, Italy in the 14th, Norway in the 18th, and Australia in the 23th.In the analysis of Korea's foreign direct investment, 57% investment in developing countries, 41% investment in developed countries. However, Korea overseas investment focus on manufacturing and mining, unable to analyze the trade effects. So need multilateral investment and trade effect determination of related research. Asia-pacific region population accounts for 36.6% of the world's population, 51.7% of the world's national output, 48.7% of the world's trade volume. Countries in the asia-pacific region's history, culture, and economic development level are different. And Korea's main target of trade and foreign direct investment more focus on the asia-pacific region. Overseas direct head to the country's economy and trade the impact of the present state of the coexistence of positive and negative. To transfer abroad of loss of comparative advantage in manufacturing, not only helps to solve the domestic labor shortages, but also exports to overseas branch for raw materials. So in a third country market deepens with the domestic same enterprise competition. By importing make are eating into the possibility of domestic market is also very high. So, in order to formulate effective foreign direct investment policy, prior to analyze the effect of foreign direct investment research In the asia-pacific region, the Korean foreign direct investment on the analysis of the impact of the Korean import and export trade as the main purpose in the research. In order to better achieve the purpose, this research conducted a theoretical discussion and empirical analysis by constructing econometric model, can work with a mixture of both .Specific research object and research scope are as follows: First of all, through the analysis of each industry, find out the difference of trade effect of foreign direct investment, thus derived a new revelation Secondly, through the analysis of foreign direct investment in advance and the relationship between the intermediate goods and final goods, to better grasp the existence of the form of the effect of foreign direct investment and trade in Korea. Finally, with the results of the analysis as the foundation, thus put forward related to overseas direct investment and industrial structure. In the empirical analysis, the set of variables of various industries including Korea imports and exports, foreign direct investment amount, the distance between transaction object and the gross national product,
