Abstract
This thesis has covered the result about the energy saving stator for small vessels. This new Pre-swirl type appendage is attached to the port bow and the starboard symmetrically and has a role of controlling the inefficient flow. Different designs of seven types have been analyzed by CFD calculation and the model test in the towing vessel has been conducted in every case. Fin attached to the port bow was designed to induce the flow of the propeller and distribute wake equally on the side of the propeller by reducing wake peak. This played a part of reducing the loss of energy between the propeller and the port bow. In comparison with the conventional stator, this short Fin showed the same effect as the existing one and as the result of the towing tank test it was expected to get an effect of 6.4% hp reduction in the loaded condition at a planned speed.
