Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between employee satisfaction and patient safety and quality improvement after compulsory certification at the hospital and examine the effect of emploee satisfaction on patient safety and quality improvement
Methods: The subjects were 345 nurses, nursing assistants, medical technicians, and administrative staff working in 7 hospitals with more than 100 beds in Jeollanam - do and Gwangju Metropolitan City, which have obtained medical institution certification. The data collection method was a self - filling questionnaire and the data collection period was 30 days until July 22, 2017, August 22, 2017. The collected data were analyzed by frequency analysis, independent sample t-test, one-way Analysis of variance(ANONVA), correlation analysis, and controlled regression analysis using SPSS windows ver.24.0 statistical program.
Results:The average score of the satisfaction of the members after the certification was 3.00 ± 0.56 points, and the average score of the patients' safety and quality improvement was 3.60 ± 0.53 points. There was a statistically significant correlation between patient satisfaction and patient safety and quality improvement(r=0.586, p<0.001).The control variables included gender, age, religion, health status, hospital location, occupation, position, monthly income, type of work, current working year, certified year, and number of certified experiences that showed statistically significant differences in patient safety and quality improvement Satisfaction was assessed as independent variable and patient safety and quality as a dependent variable. Regression analysis showed that member satisfaction (β = 0.531, p <0.001) had a statistically significant effect on patient safety and quality improvement and 46.9% .
Conclusion: It is believed that the satisfaction of the employees after the compulsory certification of the nursing hospital has a positive effect on the safety and quality improvement of the patients. The purpose of the certification system is to improve the motivation and job satisfaction of the internal workers to improve the safety and quality of the patients voluntarily. It is thought that it will be a factor to make.
