Factors Related with Necessity of Forensic Medicine Education for Clinical Laboratory Department

Purpose: This study was to investigated the related factor and necessity of forensic medicine education for students of Clinical Laboratory department. Method: The study subjects were to target 228 students of Clinical Laboratory department of college of public health located at Gwangju from March 10 through April 10, 2015. The data analysis was done using actual numbers, percentiles, means and standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression methed with SPSS/PC 18.0. Result: The mean scores of total factor about necessity of forensic medicine education for students of Clinical Laboratory department were 3.63(SD=0.82). In the general characteristics of research object person, the necessity of forensic medicine education was not statistically significant for gender, residential life, religion and smoking. In the characteristics of campus life the necessity of forensic medicine education were had not statistically significant for grades, choose department motive, the presence or absence of clinical pathologist among the family and relatives, clinical practice, the satisfaction of department. The awareness of forensic medicine according as the necessity of forensic medicine education was statistically significant the interest of forensic medicine, the time of necessary education and the relevance of employment. But the cognitive of forensic medicine, a image of forensic medicine, the lecture of forensic medicine, the forensic medicine-related improvements were not statistically significant differences. Related factor about necessity of forensic medicine education for students of clinical laboratory department were the time of necessary education(p=0.001) and the relevance of employment(p=0.000). But university department selected motive, interest in forensic medicine, forensic medicine-related enhancements were had not statistically significant. Conclusion: In this study, Factors related with necessity of forensic medicine education for Clinical Laboratory department were the time of necessary education and the relevance of employment. Therefore the time of necessary education and the relevance of employment explained 25.9% of the related factors about necessity of forensic medicine education.
