As the table above shows, art galleries invest majority of their space real estate to the space for exhibition (58.86%). This means they need to reconsider the space plan for education, reference, collections, and leisure. These kinds of case study results problems here below.
1) Expansion of functions - better distribution plan
The plan should be made not only for exhibition, but also for education, reference, collections, and leisure. Among examined art galleries, Hwanki art gallery is the only case that fulfills this requirement. To be utilized as a local cultural facility that draw inpublics, the plan has to take space distribution and scale seriously.
2) Educational function
According to the research about current situation, art galleries’ educational role is insignificant. Galleries are needed to develop programs such as; performance, seminar, and visual materials to promote this functionand for these programs, the space of small-scale art galleries should be multi-purposed and they also develop cultural merchandises to have museum shop in them.
3) Moving route planning that considers functions
Some galleries have moving route problems due to the absence of distribution plan. Seoul, kyungin. Gwanhum galleries show intense routes collisions because of unclearly defined spaces such as; exhibition area, office, staircase, rest room, and canteen. Small-scale galleries better to choose driven-circulation style route plan.
4) Specialized exhibition
For better accessibility, galleries should be specialized in planning exhibitions and should also keep trying developing software and programs to maximize the restrained communication between art works and audiences.
5) Enhancement of service and space for respite
When a gallery has respite space in it, it is likely to be restaurant or café (Gyumgin art gallery, Green gallery, and gallery Bing). It is hard to find simple and less burdening space for taking a rest.
6) Flexible use of space
Small-scale galleries usually don’t have enough space to afford many functions. Space utilization plan that considers flexibility is need to provide the rooms for encountering artists’ idea and expression.
7) Utilize the out side space
Small-scale galleries need to maximize the functionality of small spaces. These spaces can be used for out door exhibition, respite, entertainment, event and so on.
8) User-centered space plan
9) Adjusting to changing needs
Galleries should consider renovation of space attributable for social requirement and domestic specialties.
This paper proposes a conceptual development plan for small-scale art gallery with space distribution plan

. Suggestion of desirable guidelines based on this would be the result of this paper. At this moment, when small-scale galleries are being developed to maximize the chance of public access to art and culture, this paper which proposes guidelines seem valuable. The insufficient parts of this paper would be the subjects of next research project.Propose of aspace setting program model for small-scale gallery.◁표 ▷(원문을 참조하세요)* The portions should vary based on galleries’ characteristics
