There are lots of study about Korean and Japanese passive voices and they have some common factors. First, in terms of syntax, when the subject of active voice is changed, the postposition is also changed. And when an active voice is turned into a passive voice, the form of the verb in the sentence is changed so that it can express passive voice. In order for Korean language to indicate a passive voice, the verb in the sentence can be changed like these: passive suffix such as '-i, -hi, -ri and -ki' is added to the verb. And In the case of Japanese passive voice, auxiliary verb, 'reru' or 'rareru', is connected to the conjugative ending of the verb. In korean, When the active voice is exchanged with the passive voice, according to change of verb, also josa is changed: '-ni, -kara, -ni yotte, -to'. This thesis aims at finding out what difference with korean and japanese. The active voice, which is used for most Korean sentences, emphasizes the action itself rather than the subject of the action. On the contrary, Japanese passive voice focuses on the object of the action, which is usually human beings. Although Korean and Japanese sentences have the same meaning, they use different voices, which indicates the different points of view of the speakers. This thesis tried to find out why Korean and Japanese speakers have different points of view. To this end, the thesis tried to understand the difference of the mindset caused by the different cultures, which are closely related with the language.
