-Focusing on Middle School in Gwangju Provinces-

The final purpose of fine arts education is in order to raise the whole person who has the critical thinking ability and can improve the inheriting culture in own's way. and it is to promote imagination, sensibility and creativity.
With at this point, considering that the age of middle school is important time to searching and establishing the traditional art based on national identity of korea.
However, so far, fine art education at middle school have laid too much emphasis on western fine art and teachers have not interested and understanded to education our traditional korean art and culture as well as student. And recently in the wave of the globalization, it's difficult to protect our traditional korean art and culture.
Therefore, there are many attempts to preserve the traditional art in the field of fine art education.
At this point, the seventh curriculum in fine arts education emphasize contents of learning for promote interest and understanding of traditional korean art and culture
This study checks current status and problems in korean painting education by analysis on actual state in middle school fine art education. In addition, the study examined how middle school art education of korean traditional art has been performed, analyzed the present situations problems and role of textbooks, and suggested solutions.
To conclude, the purpose of this study is that leading students to correctly understand our traditional culture and making them improve the inheriting tradition in middle school art classes.
