Abstract
Despite era, human beings have his/her desire to imitate or to show his/her own thought or experience to the other people. In addition, those are shown from the labor instinct and play instinct. That is, it could be said a kind of dance was created from those human instinct and desire.
The category of Intangible cultural properties in the current era is defined as cultural products which have been transmitted or existed in our traditional living life, being authorized by the government over dance, music, industrial arts, technology and etc.
Through this research, I hereby examined Jung Jae Man's award for his public performances, his life-story, his life and world of art who is transmitting Pedigree of Kyunghangryu dance, the dance type by Han Sung Jun and Han Young Sook, which is designated as 'SeungMu (Buddhist dance)', Important Intangible cultural property #27. And I found he led an active life as Korean tradition dancer under a number of teachers' education, running parallel with traditional dance and creative dance.
In this research, I studied first initial training time out of Jung Jae Man's world of dance. I examined Jung Jae Man's back ground, personal environment, the motive to be a dancer and lessons he got from Song Bum, Kim Baeg Bong and Han Young Sook, who influenced to his present dance.
And examining the middle years which could be called as his period of prosperity and being said he made a lot of creative works for this period, I inspected his performing activities through the direction of traditional dance and through reorganization and dance-composition, focused on this creative period and looked into his dances till now since being titled as processor of 'SeungMu (Buddhist dance)', Important Intangible cultural property #27 on 12-Dec., 2000. That is, I lighted up his dance activities and achievement, breaking up period by period and I wrote this thesis, giving its priority to analysis such as musical characteristics and dancer's clothing, which could be seen from the performance, as researching his work-piece, 'Mr. ChunHyang' from Korean classical literature [story of ChunHyang], which was created in the new way to see and in modern style.
And I also discussed the would-be Subject in the field of Dance through the analysis of Mr. Chun Hyang.
Even though it is not possible to examine the art world only with a study of dancer's one work, I hope it could be helpful as a document data for the dance history over one Dancer, as it was studied from previous theses, articles and program interview files and Korean dances could get much interests and concers from the mass of people.
