Abstract
The study on Media Education of Modern Art in the 21st century
(based on Video Art)


Modern Art is considered to be purpose-oriented with social function rather than tradition-oriented by seeking pure beauty. Namely, it is not an object that we just see and have a fun with but a point of view that it actually gives a variety of function.
The ultimate concept of beauty and a set of classic values in the field of art have not been pursued since long time ago. Rather, the pluralism of the status quo accepting all methods and education has been prevailed.
The multifarious selection of media has extended to the area of Video Art with an artist Baek Nam-June who considered TV, which has been recognized as information and entertainment so far, as an art object.
Contrary to a symbol of language rendering objective cognition to the outside, the symbol of Art is to express the emotional state of a human being's inner world by intuition. That is to say, a symbol is not to point out objects and deliver facts, but to express concepts.
This symbol of Media has a way of meanings in the numerous area of the Art. Modern Art extends over a wide range unlike the past when it covers only a couple of areas such as poetry, architecture, music, pictures, and etc.
The acceleration of Media Education especially inspires teachers and finally derives a new world, Technology Art.
The growth of Art expression according to the change of Art concept and the development of Media makes it possible to integrate communication.
Spurring into the information-oriented society from Modern Art through TV and computer, Technology Media has cast anchor and played a very important role into the modern life. In conclusion, it comes up with a concept of the New Technology Art of the 20th century after all.
Therefore, this research looks for the usage of Media that a kind of pop art, Video Art shows and aesthetic meanings of Video Art by searching art aspects accepted via Media.
In particular, it makes a deep research for the possibility and limitation of Video Art, a part of Modern Art among the new media, through the aesthetic meaning of Video Art and concept analysis of Art communication by the case analysis of Baek Nam-Jun.
Technology gives a good possibility of education renovation in the field of Art. A subject matter and a style of contemporary Technology Art should be understood as a course of education-based expansion and a type of representative environment of today.
