To let the music education have its significance, schools should have a music class that is centered on activity which is clearly practical. However, the music education today still remains as singing centered class, although it should have all singing, appreciation, and creation. In this information oriented and diversified world of twenty-first century, the class should also have various musical composition to not just improve students' musical talents and emotion, but also to train their creative expression and contemplative faculty and therefore have an aesthetic eye and desirable sense of value. This musical composition should provide aesthetic experience and furthermore it should provide an opportunity to learn different tones through different instruments and therefore have a chance to express one's feeling. The textbook which is most important for school education should be more future oriented and capable to provide students enough experience to fulfill the rapidly changing demands of the society.
This thesis have its purpose on letting the students be in touch with various musical composition and instruments and eventually have better quality of music education through comparative study on the eight different music textbook for first grade middle school students.
First, the textbook should stress more on instrument music for true instrumental music study. It is not too much to say that the textbook is mostly about singing. The fact that learning the instrumental themed songs does not include instrumental music study, shows that the instrument study is neglected.
Second, there are more foreign instrumental songs than Korean according to the findings by performing form, which means that the Korean instrumental songs does not have various performing form compared to foreign songs.
Third, the textbook should present different types of instruments to let students come in contacts with instruments that fits their musical talents and physical developments
Forth, in the instrumental studying, the textbook should provide with the techniques of presented instruments, since instrumental studying need proper understanding of an instruments and it takes a long time to learn how to play an instruments
