One of the most important goals of mathematics education is to encourage the students get interested in mathematics through learning by experience and recognition that mathematics is required in everyday life in addition to improving the ability of mathematical thinking and problem solving. But in most mathematics classes, instructions with teacher oriented teaching method are prevalent and students gradually lose their interests in mathematics. This study is directed to develop teaching and learning materials for improving achievements of students who don't feel interested. For this purpose I focused on the following studies:
First, I analyzed teaching method and learning materials of equation in the middle school textbook.
Second, I developed teaching and learning materials of equation in the middle school curriculum.
This study shows the development of teaching and learning materials about equation as one of the methods that students can think mathematics of an interesting subject. From now, teachers should develop lots of comprehensible materials and interesting approaches appropriate to students' levels and also actively utilize them in mathematics classes. Furthermore teachers should study constantly to prove learning achievements or effects on whether applying those materials in the classes can cause students to take an interest in it and easily appraoch to contents.
