The violinists have the difficulty in dealing with the various issues that the works themselves involve and the musical expressions at the same time. Besides the difficulty of musical expression, the subtle body movement caused by the relationship of both hands is also another difficulty. The technique of both hands also expresses the music but delivers the feeling of a player.
The string musicians have to use both hands to express the pitch, length, dynamics and tone of sounds. The left hand which covers the musical interval is also influenced by the pressure of a bow and the position to make sounds. As the right hand which controls the expression of dynamics depends on the speed and width of left hand' s vibrato, the appropriate division of a bow is made complete by the use of both hands. The scheduled movement of a player's body is concealed behind the smooth music.
Because of the important role of both hands in playing the violin, this study is to investigate the function of a right hand.
Many students ask themselves, "when will I make the good sounds?" The answer to this question, however, is very simple. By following the basic skills, students players can make good sounds.
Sometimes the performance of a brilliant violinist does not leave any impression of an artificial aspect. Just the fluently-flowing music is itself. In such a playing audiences can listen and feel the musical explanation and passion. The ultimate goal to practice technical skills is to play the high-level music. That is why there are too many a music manual and etude.
Among many etudes A Study on Violin SEVCIK School of Bowing Technic For the Violinis chosen in this research. The reasons that the study chooses it are as followings.
1) SEVCIK is only for the practice of a bow.
2) Thanks to the easy music, players can practice a bow without giving any caution to the technique of a left hand.
3) Players can practice various techniques of a bow with only the one music so they can concentrate on using a bow.
Besides the etude based on using a bow, the other basic skills more specific and systematic are also dealt with in this study.
In practicing a bow, the basic skills will help solve the basic problems. As it is said earlier, a right position, shoulder rest, breath, the practice to grab a bow and other playing executions of using a bow are also treated in this study. After attaining such basic skills, the real understanding on etude may be possible.
