Music has been improved with tile trends of its culture and daily life.
Music had been used for sick people in shamanistic, religious and therapeutic type as well as meaning as a music itself, and it recently has been settled as a field of therapy. Through 1st and 2nd World War, the music that had an origin in performing musical activity and playing in public, but there was another benefit such as quickening health recoverable from music. Since then people has tried to examine music and found out the therapeutic possibility of Musical Therapy. And now we are in the phase of clinical application with many principles and systematic approach. Music Therapy means not that it has omnipotent effect for the sick and treat them, but that improve physic-intellectual function in stable local community environment in the base of systematic and scientific musical activity with the cooperation of the aspect of medicine and other ways of therapy.
People started to acknowledge Music Therapy about half century ago, and yet in the beginning level in korea. However we may have other possibilities of jointing many scholastic fields with the strength of Music itself, means of nonverbal communication.
In the base of many ways of approach and many principles that has developed, we tried to focus on that People might easily use this. This study was conducted not in the clinical practice but in he base of theoretical frame. Bur frankly we still have many modes or clinical application wanted.
This study was to go through each historical steps and current trends of it, find out the principle and modes of Music Therapy and report the research results with Musical Therapy conducted in clinical practices lately. I am looking forward far much possibilities for developing new ways of Musical Therapy which might fit in korean culture and emotion to be developed. Finally I wish this study provide further better of Musical Therapy.
