Abstract
BACKGROUND: Sec-O-glucosylhamaudol (SOG) is one of the major bioactive compounds from Ledebouriella seseloides. SOG is a critical source of natural antioxidants with cancer chemopreventive activities.
METHODS: The present study was designed to determine whether SOG could inhibit interleukin (IL)-6 expression in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW 264.7 murine macrophage cell line.
RESULTS: SOG suppressed the expression of LPS-induced IL-6 in a dose-dependent manner (p<0.05). Moreover, SOG inhibited the expression of GM-CSF, TNF-α, siCAM-1 and RANTES in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cell lines (p<0.05).
CONCLUSION: Our results implied a pivotal role of SOG as an anti-inflammatory modulator.
