The related factors with job satisfaction and turnover intention of care workers in long-term care facilities for the elderly in a metropolitan city

To find the related factors with job satisfaction and turnover intention of care workers employed by long-term care facilities for the elderly in a metropolitan city, a questionnaire survey was done from 201 care workers from September 20th to October 20th, 2009.
The analyzed findings are as follows :
1. As the related factors with total job satisfaction and its internal aspect, motive to start education for the certificate of care workers, satisfaction with practice education for the certificate and payment method for the work were statisfically significant.
2. As the related factors with external aspect of job satisfaction, age of subjects, motive to start education for the certificate, size of the facilities and payment method for the work were statistically significant.
3. The turnover intention of care workers was significantly related with size of the facilities, kind of work hour rotation and internal aspect of job satisfaction.
In conclusion, to reduce turnover intention by care workers in long-turm care facilities, the increase of job satisfaction was necessary, especially in the internal aspect of satisfaction. To increase the job satisfaction, efforts to trigger clarified motive to become care workers, satisfactory practice education and stable method of payment for their work must be considered.
