Abstract: Jupiter's Moon is a film by the Hungarian director Kornél Mundruczó, who tries to document the social problems of the refugees through his film. The present work analyses the film based on Giorgio Agamben's biopolitical perspective, to explain how life is controlled as a means of modern biopolitics, more specific, how modern politics produces "the naked life" like the refugees. Agameben refers to Michel Foucault's biopolitical theory and associates it with the concept of "state of emergency". He focuses the problems of others on the state of emergency, that is, "homo sacer", which modern politics establishes through control. Agamben defines the concentration camp as the extreme form of modern biopolitics. It is the example of bio-power that perfectly represents the state of emergency. The film Jupiter's Moon shows the refugee crisis in Hungary, where millions of people, especially from Syria, escape terror. The story of a hovering refugee, the young Syrian Arian Dashini, is a relentlessly accusing comment on the current situation in politically degenerate Hungary, where ruthlessness, corruption and selfishness dominate society. In the hospital department of the refugee camp Dr. Gaber Stern treats the injured boy, Aryan but wants to use the wonderful skills Aryan for his own purposes. The Story goes on about escaping from the two people. The article shows that the film emphasizes the need for a new category for the notion of nation and nationality and to redefine the refugees' human rights.

Abstract: Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck has been appreciated as a textbook for American and English high school students, which means its widespread appeal to the average people's emotion. However, not a few reviewers have criticized the work on its sentimentalism and schematic characterization and event structure. This paper studies their substantial and specific aspects because the experts have not revealed them. The research process is observing the emotional factors called sentimentalism and some related critical reviews and then inferring the assumed evidence after introducing the critics' ideas against Steinbeck's writings of characters and events blamed for the schematization. Lastly, the researchers leave a doubt regarding how the loss of artistry of the work affects its popular value, which is meant to produce more academic discussion about the controversy over the true nature of Of Mice and Men.

Abstract: This paper aims to discuss the reason for and the limit of vigilantism in the light of the theory of the state of nature by John Locke, a philosopher of classic democracy, after defining a vigilance committee or group as a civil organization with its private norm and well-ordered system. As for a research method, the second chapter introduces the preceding study about vigilantism, illuminating the tendency of the discourse around the topic, and producing the points to study more. The third chapter discusses the aspect of vigilantism based on John Locke's theory regarding the state of nature. Lastly, I conclude the reason that vigilantism, not appreciated so much as needed, happens in the real situation as in the Teachers' Labor Union, originates from the democratic doctrine meaning sovereignty vested in the people. Besides, the research of the Korean vigilantism leaves the future work to do in how to distinguish the voluntary movement from the public authority, considering its relationship with civilian cooperation groups of local police.

Abstract: It can be confirmed that the actions of men in this film, ‘The First Sex’, create no positive value and that there is a relationship between the very special gender-positive political aspects and power that Simone de Beauvoir defines as ‘The Second Sex’. In addition, the female characters in this movie are those who lead a self-centered life free of patriarchal society by raising their children and taking responsibility for themselves. Eventually, through the actions of their work, I can find that their behaviors are consistent with feminism in terms of warm maternal love, solidarity of women, and the independent lives of women. On the other hand, it can be said that men were subordinate or marginal to women by showing irresponsible attitudes of life and undesirable male identities.
