ABSTRACT

An Analysis on W.A.Mozart Flute Concerto K.314

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart(1756. 1.27 ~1791. 12. 05) contributed himself greatly to the development of classical music through the various kinds of his masterpieces.
In spite of the fact that he lived only for a short period of time, he created all types of compositions over a wide range, developed and completed the Wien classical music.
There are Flute Concerto No. 1 in G Major, K. 313 and Concerto No. 2 D major, K. 314 in Mozart Flute Concerto.
One of his major works, Flute Concerto No 2 in D Major, K 314,is a very skillful and excellent one in its harmony among his major works.
This music was originally composed for Oboe Concerto in C Major, but he recomposed it for Flute. That's why Solo and accompaniment parts of this concerto are almost same as Oboe one, but it has been modified in its melody more brilliantly considering the technique of Flute.
The following is the analytical study on W. A. Mazart Concerto No. 2 in D Major, K. 314. It takes the form of orthodox classicism, and the 1st movement is taking the tradition structure of sonata form. The 2nd movement is also taking the sonata form which is abbreviated in the development part while the 3rd movement is taking extended Rondo form. Tonality has involved in the keynote and dominant in general, and it takes D Major in the 1st movement, G Major in the 2nd, and the D Major in the 3rd, and frequently modulation to the above and below the dominant relative keys. Concerning harmony, the secondary dominant chord is principally used in the chromatic scale harmony and the non-harmonic color to stress the changing tone.
Melody has well balanced as it is use the above and below cantilena in using a key note and a dominant. All the movements employ a sequence in its melodies. It also takes mutual communicative style for each melody between solo instruments and the accompaniment.
