Abstract
Maurice Ravel(1875~1937) was a musical colossal who had made great contribution to the modern French Music. In common with Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel was also an exemplary musical composer of Impressionist School.
Having gone through the transitional period of music from Impressionist School to Modern Music, he integrated Classic and Modern Styles into his composing, which indicated the development trend of music of the future of that period. Being expressions of uniqueness interwoven with special skills, his piano works set him apart from most others. His piano works can be classified into schools with Impressionist Tendency and with the New Classical Tendency, and his works were backed with strong characters in the aspects of artistry and music.
In order to have a thorough understanding over the Ravel's "Sonatine" which I will play as my graduation performance, I made my study and analysis over the composition through the thesis. Not only to understand his musical world including his piano music, but also to bear in mind the constitution of Ravel's composition-"Sonatine" and the do's and don'ts in the performance.
