유치환 시에 나타난 저항 의식 연구 : 생태아나키즘적 관점을 바탕으로

Abstract

유치환의 시는 생명의지, 허무, 아나키즘 등 여러 관점에서 해석되고 있는데 그중 아나키즘적 특성에 관한 기존의 논의에서 심층생태주의가 주장하는 자연의 내재적 가치(inherent worth)로 독해되는 경우가 있다. 아나키즘의 관심사는 권력 관계와 위계질서의 문제이므로, 심층생태주의가 표방하는 자연과 인간의 동일시를 신비주의, 인간혐오주의(antihumanism)라는 점에서 반대하는 입장이다. 다시 말해 아나키즘에서 자연이나 자연관은 심층생태주의가 주장하는, 회귀나 현실 치환의 대상이 아니라 현실을 극복하는, 하나의 방법론으로 간주된다. 그런데 일부 논자는 유치환의 아나키즘 시를 심층생태주의적 입장에서 해석하고 있는 바 이러한 기존의 연구사를 비판적으로 검토해 유치환의 시에 대한 새로운 의미를 발견하는 것이 이 연구의 목적이다. 이를 위해 2장에서는 먼저 고드윈(William Godwin), 크로포트킨(Pyotr Kropotkin) 등 초기 아나키스트를 중심으로 아나키즘의 자연관에 대해 고찰했다. 그 결과 아나키즘의 일차적 관심사가 ‘자연’이 아니라 ‘탈정치’, 즉 억압적인 체제로부터의 자유로움이라는 점을 확인할 수 있었다. 이어 초기 무정부주의와 생태주의가 결합한 생태아나키즘적 사유와, 그것을 사회생태주의로 확장한 북친(Murray Bookchin)을 소개하고 사회생태주의와 심층생태주의의 자연관의 차이를 설명했다. 이를 바탕으로 3장에서는「旗빨」등 유치환의 시를 현실의 억압으로부터 해방이라는, 생태아나키즘적 관점에서 감상하고 이것이 자연과 원시의 동경이라는, 기존의 해석과 다른 점을 보여주었다. 그 결과 그동안 생명의식, 허무 등으로 이해돼 온 유치환의 일부 시에서 일본제국주의의 억압에 대한 저항 의식을 읽을 수 있었다는 것이 본고의 성과이다.

Yoo Chi-hwan's poems are interpreted from various perspectives such as the will of life, vanity, and anarchism. Among them, in the existing discussion about anarchistic characteristics, they are read as the inherent worth of nature that Deep Ecology claims. Anarchism's concern is that it is a matter of power relations and hierarchies, and it opposes the identification of nature and humanity, which is expressed by Deep Ecology, in terms of mysticism and antihumanism. In other words, in anarchism, nature or view of nature is regarded as a methodology of overcoming reality, not the object of regression or substitution of reality, which Deep Ecology claims. However, some authors have interpreted Yoo Chi-hwan's poetry of anarchism from the perspective of Deep Ecology. The purpose of this study is to examine critically the existing research history and discover new meanings. To this end, Chapter II first examined the natural view of anarchism, focusing on early anarchists such as William Godwin and Pyotr Kropotkin. As a result, this paper can confirm that the primary concern of anarchism is not 'nature' but 'de-politics', that is, freedom from oppressive system. Chapter Ⅲ introduces ecological anarchistic thought that combines early anarchism and ecologicalism, and Murray Bookchin who expanded it into Social Ecology and explained the difference between the natural view of Social Ecology and Deep Ecology. On the basis of this, in chapter IV, Yoo Chi-hwan's poems such as「旗빨」are appreciated from the Ecological Anarchism point of view of liberation from the oppression of reality and showed a different view from the previous interpretation that this is the yearning of nature and primitiveness. As a result, it is the result of this article that some poetry of Yoo Chi-hwan, who have been understood as life consciousness and vanity, have been able to read a sense of resistance to the oppression of Japanese imperialism.
