스마트 기기를 활용한 초등 영어 수업에서 학습자의 정의적 요인과 영어 학습 성취도의 관계

Abstract
Smart learning has become a new trend in education. Smart devices have been introduced and applied in class to stimulate affective factors, and new models of instruction using smart device have been designed. The purpose of this study was to examine EFL students English achievement and affective factors (self-confidence, interest, satisfaction) in their smart device-based learning environment.
Twenty-nine elementary school students at a private institute participated in the study. The students were asked to fill out a questionnaire about their background information. They responded to the survey about self-confidence and interest in English learning using smart device and satisfaction with the English class through smart equipment. Also, they took English reading, listening and vocabulary tests. The collected data were analyzed through reliability, descriptive statistics and correlation.
The results of the study were summarized as follows:
First, the students in the smart device helped learners to develop their self-confidence and interest in English learning and they satisfied with the English classes. Also the students perceived that their English skill has substantially improved through learning English using smart device. Second, the correlation analysis indicated that there was a statistically significant relationship between students’ English satisfaction and their reading achievement.
Based on the results of the study, it is expected that smart device-based learning is helpful to design the learning methods of English and teach students to improve English achievement and enhance students’ self-confidence and interest in and satisfaction with learning English.
