고등학생 영어학습자의 언어학습 유형

Abstract

본 연구는 국내에 고등학생 학습자들의 효과적인 영어 학습을 위해 그들이 사용하는 영어 학습유형을 알아보고자 고등학생 2학년 학생들을 대상으로 성별, 계열, 영어 성취도를 변인으로 설정하여 어떠한 차이가 있는지 규명하는데 목적을 두었다. 이 연구문제를 검증하기 위해 본 연구에서는 전라북도에 위치한 J시에 소재하고 있는 5개 고등학교의 2학년 학생 770명 대상으로 영어 학습 유형에 관한 설문은 실시하였다. 학습 유형의 설문도구로서 Oxford가 개발한 SAS(Style Analysis Survey)설문지를 사용하였다. 본 연구에서 주요한 결과들을 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 고등학생들의 학습 유형을 살펴보면 시각적, 내성적, 직관적, 개방적, 포괄적 유형에서 높은 분포를 보였다. 둘째, 성별에 따른 학습 유형 분포의 차이를 살펴본 결과, 여학생은 시각적, 내성적, 구상적, 종결적 유형이 남학생은 청각적, 조작적, 외향적 유형이 높았다. 셋째, 계열에 따른 학습 유형 분포에서는 인문계열은 시각적, 외향적, 종결적 유형이 자연계열은 청각적, 구상적, 포괄적, 분석적 예체능 계열에서는 조작적, 구상적, 개방적 유형이 많았다. 넷째, 성취도에 따른 분포에서는 시각적, 내성적, 직관적, 종결적, 개방적, 포괄적, 분석적 유형에 있어서 하위권이, 청각적, 구상적, 조작적, 외향적 유형에 있어서는 중위권이 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구결과는 다음과 같은 점을 시사한다. 학습자들에게는 일방적인 유형의 학습 활동을 제시하기 보다는 학습자들이 선호하는 유형을 인지하여 그에 맞게 다양한 학습활동을 제시할 필요가 있다. 교사들은 학습자들에게 이들의 학습 유형을 올바르게 파악하여 보다 적합한 학습 유형을 개발 하도록 도우며 학습 유형교육의 효과를 더욱 높일 필요가 있다고 본다.|Jo, ju-hyun.(2014). The purpose of this study was to discover the differences of English learning style of high school students which might vary according to variables of learners such as sex and English learning achievements and fields. In order to answer the above questions, 770 high school students participated in the questionnaire on their learning styles. The results revealed that subjects had all five major learning styles but among them auditory, concrete-sequential, openness-oriented, global-processing styles were the most preferred by them. The current study suggests that great number of variables such as sex, English achievements and fields can all play important roles in shaping the learning preferences and the learning styles of students. Considering these variables and promoting a curriculum that is interesting, appealing and successful may help maximize student L2 learning.
